DOSSIERS Criminels/L’AUBERGE D’ALTOBELLA

     Aucamville, un petit village de 600 habitants dans le Tarn et Garonne, une étrange rumeur circule depuis plusieurs années : un homme aurait été assassiné dix ans plus tôt dans l’auberge située à la sortie du village. Intrigué, un gendarme fraîchement muté dans la région, décide de mener l’enquête. S’agit-il d’une légende ? Qui peut bien être cette victime ? Il ne se doute pas un instant qu’il va mettre à jour une affaire des plus barbares qu’ait connu la région. Tout d’abord, le gendarme découvre la réputation sulfureuse de l’auberge où aurait eu lieu le drame.  La patronne, Altobella Cappelleri, y organise des parties fines, auxquelles participeraient des notables de la région. Cette femme de caractère est redoutée dans tout le village. On raconte qu’elle bat son mari, qu’elle l’a même pourchassé, un couteau de boucher à la main, devant les clients du restaurant… Dans le village, les langues se délient et un prénom de l’hypothétique victime est prononc...

Cette photo du 23 février 2009 montre un monument commémoratif pour Victoria Chavez près de la zone sud-ouest de Mesa, où des corps ont été découverts du côté ouest d'Albuquerque, au Nouveau-Mexique. Il y a dix ans, la police d'Albuquerque a commencé à fouiller les restes de onze femmes et d'un enfant non encore né inhumés dans la Mesa occidentale, entamant ainsi le début d'une vaste enquête pour homicide non résolue. La plupart d'entre eux étaient des prostituées latines dans la vingtaine et pendant des années, personne ne savait ce qui leur était arrivé. Puis, en février 2009, une résidente qui promenait son chien dans la zone ouest de Mesa à Albuquerque a fait une découverte horrible: un os ressemblant à un fémur humain dépassait du sol. ANDRE KAAS : L’histoire d’une erreur judiciaire sans procès.

Il aura fallu attendre le 26 mars 2004 pour qu’André Kaas soit définitivement innocenté du meurtre de sa femme Sylviane, survenu le 5 avril 1992. Une histoire rocambolesque où la justice et surtout les forces de l’ordre ont été vivement remises en cause. On est le 5 avril 1992. André Kaas, promoteur immobilier emmène ses enfants au cinéma. Ses enfants sont au nombre de 4: Nathalie, 19 ans, Julien, 12 ans, Jérôme, 10 ans et Augustin, 2 ans. Lorsqu’il rentre chez lui, il découvre le corps inanimé de sa femme, Sylviane Kaas, dans leur chambre à coucher. Très vite, les soupçons pèsent sur André. Il aurait tué sa femme pour toucher son héritage. Pourtant, cette femme devait une grosse somme d’argent à sa banque. Son assurance-vie (l’héritage en question) aurait donc servi à éponger ses dettes plus qu’à enrichir le promoteur immobilier. Il ne manquait plus qu’une dénonciation plus ou moins douteuse pour qu’André Kaas soit mis en prison. C’est ce qui s’est passé un an et demi après le meurtre...
